Hydraulic Breakers
Compact Breakers
Eight models from SD6 to SD42, engineered for excavators from 700 kg to 12 tonnes. Compact enough to pass through standard doorways and narrow trenches, yet built to deliver consistent impact energy in urban demolition, utilities, landscaping and indoor work.

Compact-class hydraulic breakers
From 700 kg minis to 12-tonne excavators, eight models built for tight sites and high cycle counts.
Montabert's compact range gives you three to four breaker options across each mini-excavator class, so you can match impact energy precisely to the carrier and the job. The line-up is designed around real-world site conditions in Australia: tight courtyards, residential streetscapes, indoor strip-outs, footpath and kerb works, pool digs and small-diameter trenching. Every model is compatible with standard market attachments, simplifying fleet integration. Monty Products supports the full SD range with parts, service and tooling from our Perth base.
Eight Models, One Range
SD6, SD8, SD12, SD16, SD22, SD28, SD36 and SD42 cover excavators from 700 kg right through to 12 tonnes. Multiple options per carrier class let you optimise for productivity or finesse rather than settling for a one-size-fits-all breaker.
Built for Tight Sites
Slim profile and balanced weight make the compact range ideal for indoor demolition, narrow trenches and confined urban work. Pass-through clearance for standard doorways and pedestrian access points without compromising impact energy.
Reliable and Easy to Service
Heavy-duty construction, simple hydraulics and broad compatibility with chisel, blunt and moil tooling keep these breakers earning. Straightforward installation and routine maintenance, backed by Monty Products parts and service in Australia.

Frequently asked
Common questions about Compact Breakers
- Which Montabert compact breaker fits my excavator?
- Match the breaker's carrier weight range to your excavator's working weight, then confirm against your auxiliary hydraulic flow. As a rule of thumb, the breaker's operating weight should be between 8 and 12 percent of the carrier's weight. Our team can recommend a model from your carrier make and model in one business day.
- What's the difference between an SD16 and an SD22?
- The SD16 suits 3 to 7 tonne carriers and is the most common Perth metro choice. The SD22 suits 4.5 to 9 tonne carriers and delivers higher impact energy per blow with a slightly lower cycle rate. The SD22 is only the right call if your hydraulics genuinely deliver the rated flow.
- Are Montabert compact breakers compatible with quick couplers?
- Yes. The full SD range ships with standard adapter plates and is compatible with OilQuick automatic quick couplers and most pin-on quick hitches. We supply the adapter and bracket as part of the commissioning quote.
- What tool should I run for trenching versus breaking?
- For trenching, use a narrow chisel for line control. For breaking rock or reinforced concrete, use a moil point. For asphalt and softer material, a wide chisel. Carry both a moil and a chisel to site so you don't lose a session to mismatched tooling.
- Where do you sell and service Montabert compact breakers?
- Monty Products is the authorised Montabert distributor for Western Australia and the Northern Territory. We sell new units, hold parts and tools in stock at our Malaga workshop and offer factory-trained service across WA and the NT.
