Montabert/Hydraulic Drifters

Hydraulic Breakers

Hydraulic Drifters

Twelve models from HC20 to HC170, drilling at every output band from 2 kW utilities work to 27 kW deep mining. Surface and underground rock drilling built around progressive blow energy, hydraulic dampening and energy recovery.

Hydraulic rock drifters

The percussive heart of any drilling rig, twelve sizes covering 26 mm to 127 mm holes, surface and underground.

Montabert's HC drifter line is the broadest in the industry, twelve models spanning the compact HC20 (2-4 kW, 26-51 mm holes) right up to the HC170 (17-27 kW, 89-127 mm holes). Every model uses Montabert's signature progressive blow energy design, a trapezoidal shock wave that transmits cleanly at the couplings, improving bit penetration and reducing rod stress. Hydraulic dampening absorbs reflected energy, the energy recovery valve recycles rebound into subsequent blows, and reverse percussion (standard or optional depending on size) extracts stuck rods from fractured ground. Universal carrier compatibility lets these drifters run on the rigs you already operate. Distributed and supported in Australia by Monty Products.

Progressive Blow Energy

A trapezoidal shock wave from the patented piston design transmits cleanly at the couplings. Better bit penetration with less stress on drilling rods and connections.

Hydraulic Dampening

An integrated dampening circuit absorbs the reflected portion of each blow, protects the drifter from internal pressure peaks while maintaining consistent thrust and efficiency.

Energy Recovery Valve

Rebound energy from each blow is recycled into the next. Improved shock transmission, lower tool vibration and reduced operating cost per metre drilled.

Where It Works

Common applications across Australian construction, demolition and civil sites.

Underground mining

Production drilling, development drilling and ground support across hard-rock metalliferous mines.

Surface mining & quarrying

Blast-hole drilling, pre-splitting and secondary drilling on open-cut operations.

Tunnelling

Drift, drive and tunnel face drilling, full-face and bench rounds for civil and mining tunnels.

Civil drilling

Foundation drilling, anchor holes and rock support on infrastructure projects.

Geotechnical

Investigation drilling, ground anchors and reinforcement holes for slope stability and retaining works.

Production drilling

Long-hole and short-hole production drilling across narrow-vein and bulk mining methods.
