What fits a 20 tonne and larger carrier
- Montabert V55, V65 and V1800: 18 to 28 tonne carriers. Variable frequency. The standard heavy-class option for civil and quarry secondary work.
- Montabert V2500 and V3500: 25 to 45 tonne carriers. Heavy primary breaking and quarry production work.
- Montabert V4500, V6000 and V7000: 38 to 70 tonne carriers. Heavy primary in hard-rock quarries and large infrastructure projects.
- Montabert XL Series (XL1000 to XL2600): 45 tonne and larger carriers. Production primary breaking, mining and very large demolition.
Typical applications
- Quarry primary and production breaking
- Iron ore and other hard-rock mining bench breaking
- Major infrastructure: tunnel portals, large foundation breakouts
- Heavy demolition: bridges, large structural slabs, civil concrete
- Pile and abutment breaking on civil rebuild work
Heavy vs XL: when to step up
The XL Series is purpose-built for primary breaking. It runs lower BPM with significantly higher impact energy per blow, and it's designed to absorb the recoil that comes with breaking very dense material. The trade-off: it's slower on softer or fractured material, and the carrier needs to be matched accordingly.
Practical rule of thumb: if more than 60 percent of your work is primary breaking on material with a UCS above 150 MPa, you want an XL. Otherwise stay with the V-Series and size for cycle rate.
For Pilbara iron ore work, XL-Series breakers dominate. For Goldfields and Mid West operations with mixed rock, the V6000 and V7000 typically deliver the best total cost of ownership across a fleet.
Model comparison
